Boy Killed, Stuck by School Bus in Callaway County
FULTON, Mo. (AP) — An investigation into the death of a 6-year-old struck by a school bus has concluded that the driver failed to wait long enough after dropping the boy off at his stop.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol had looked into the case of Hunter Pitt, of Williamsburg, a North Callaway County student who was killed in January. County prosecutor Chris Wilson tells The Fulton Sun that he now is reviewing the case.
The patrol report said no evidence was found to suggest that the bus driver’s vision was obstructed and no mechanical issues with the bus.
Rather, the report says, the bus stopped for a little more than 4 seconds, but the child needed more time to cross the street to get out of the way of the bus.
