EAST ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – A Fairview Heights man pleads guilty to making counterfeit cash.

Investigators say they were led to 23-year-old James Kane in late 2009… after another individual was caught using phony bills as businesses in Belleville.

Prosecutors say Kane was bleaching smaller cash currency… then printing higher denominations on top of the old bills.

He faced twenty years each on charges of manufacturing and possessing counterfeit money.

Sentencing is set for September.
