St. Louis County Makes Spirit Airport Land Grab

Michael Calhoun

CLAYTON (KMOX) – St. Louis County wants to spend almost $4-million to snap up some land within Spirit of St. Louis airport.

“Some properties have become available that will be useful for Spirit Airport to have,” County Councilman Greg Quinn explained.

The purchase includes some hangar and office space from Monsanto and a helicopter company, which Quinn said the County intends to rent out to airport patrons for a profit.

The purchases “satisfy the need for additional space identified by the Airport Master Plan,” which says the County would like to own all the airport’s land.
