ACKERMAN: Help Find Lauren
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Pardon me as I stray from sports talk for a moment. I want to bring something to your attention — something that you can do to help a family find their daughter.
On June 3, 20-year-old Lauren Spierer was seen walking back to her apartment in Bloomington, Indiana at approximately 4:15 a.m. She has been missing since that morning. For over a week, a massive search has continued near the campus of Indiana University and the surrounding area.
Lauren’s parents, Robert and Charlene Spierer, traveled immediately from New York to help lead the search. They remain in Bloomington with thousands of volunteers that have continued to look for Lauren, conducting three searches per day. Bloomington Police, family, friends and media have covered extensive ground and detectives continue to investigate.
The efforts to spread the word about Lauren have been very successful, with social media sites like Twitter and Facebook being used to create awareness. The search, concentrating on the Bloomington area, has come up empty so far…although anonymous tips continue to come in.
This is where I feel we can help. Let’s broaden the search. As you may know, I’m a graduate of IU…and it’s hard to see this happen at my favorite college campus. But most importantly, as a father, my heart breaks for Lauren’s family. It’s on my mind constantly: I want them to find Lauren.
So while St. Louis sits 200 miles from Bloomington, KMOX’s listening audience — and the devoted St. Louis sports fans — make up much of the space in between. In fact, Cardinals fans can be found throughout Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee. Let’s do what we can to help this effort.
Here are ways you can help find Lauren Spierer, from the official “Find Lauren” website: http://www.findlauren.com/

Thanks in advance for spreading the word…and for taking the time to read this.
