ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — A new campaign report for a Missouri state senator from St. Louis does not account for how more than $95,000 was spent recently.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Missouri state Senator Robin Wright-Jones filed a campaign report last August showing that she had almost $96,000 in the bank. Her new report,
however, shows $211 on hand and doesn’t explain how more than $95,000 was spent.
Wright-Jones, a Democrat from St. Louis, says her treasurer was critically ill for several months and her campaign now has a new accountant. Wright-Jones also says that all the funds were spent on legitimate expenses and accuses the Post reporter of writing what she calls “a political hit piece.”
