Freight Train Derails in St. Louis Investigation Pending

ST. LOUIS (AP) — An investigation is under way to determine the cause of a freight train derailment in St. Louis.

Nine empty open-top hopper cars derailed about 9:20 p.m. Monday on a Union Pacific line near Interstate 44. No one was hurt.

The train cars were being moved between tracks at the time of the derailment. Street traffic was not blocked.
