ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-Newsweek is out with its ranking of the nation’s 500 best high schools, and four from the St. Louis area are on the list.
The highest ranked local school is Clayton High,which comes in 89. Metro Academic and Classical ranks 93 and Ladue Horton Watkins checks in at 103.
Rockwood Summit is 290. A fifth Missouri school, Lincoln Prep in Kansas City also makes the list, at 124.
30 Illinois schools make the top 500, but none are from the metro east.
Newsweek bases the rankings on six categories, including graduation rates, the percentage of graduates going to college and average SAT scores.
Clayton High was helped by a 100%t graduation rate with 98 % of graduating Greyhounds going on to college.
