Local Priest Put On Leave After Teens’ Complaints

Greg Branson

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A Roman Catholic priest is on administrative leave following reports of inappropriate correspondence with two teenagers.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the Archdiocese of St. Louis has taken the action against the Reverend William Vatterott, pending the outcome of an investigation by Ballwin police. Ballwin police confirm a complaint has been made but would not go into details.

Vatterott has been the pastor of St. Cecilia Catholic Church since 2008. He served at Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin before that.

Hopefully others, who have knowledge or may have been harmed by Vatterott, will contact police, not church officials. Crimes against kids, should be investigated by the independent professionals in law enforcement, not the biased amateurs in church offices.

Also know that you are not alone, and if you have been harmed by this priest, there is help and a chance for healing.

Judy, your readiness to help abuse victims is commendable, but the man has not been accused of sexual misconduct.
