KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Flooding along the Missouri River continues in northwest Missouri and has also headed toward central Missouri.
Emergency officials in northwest Missouri said Thursday a levee that was breached two weeks ago has become more severely damaged, causing additional flooding in the Atchison County town of Watson.
Mark Manchester, deputy director of emergency management for Atchison County, said Watson residents evacuated two weeks ago, but some returned home after floodwaters began receding. Residents in the town of about 120 residents were being told to evacuate again because of the new breach.
Manchester said the region received up to 3 inches of rain overnight.
In west-central Missouri, Missouri National Guard crews have been working to repair a levee in Carroll County. The guard said Thursday that so far that levee was holding.
