BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – The region’s last-standing drive-in theatre is holding a special “Joplin Relief Night” tonight (Friday).
Skyview in Belleville pledges to donate $2 from every $10 admission to the Salvation Army’s relief fund, and they’ll be collecting items to be sent to the tornado-devastated area.
That’s according to the Salvation Army’s William Becker, “Skyview called and wanted to do something. This is their way of helping. We’ve had restaurants and other businesses trying to think of ways they could support Joplin.”
Becker says canned vegetables, canned meats, baby wipes and diapers are items most in need, “The Joplin victims come to us for donated supplies and take them back to wherever they are staying. We also are providing financial assistance to them, like for those needing help with insurance premiums or outdated bills.”
Skyview Drive-In’s box office opens at 7pm. Movies begin at 9pm. Screen one is showing “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Super 8.” Screen two is showing “Cars 2” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” Click here to visit their website.
