ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The area’s excessive heat warning begins to take its toll on St. Louis City and County residents.

On Monday, County Health Officials say sixteen people were treated for heat related illness in County hospitals, and fourteen heat related illnesses were reported in city hospitals.

Four of the cases were not city residents, and their ages ranged from seven to 66. Seven were female, seven were male. The reason for the illnesses ranged from no air conditioning at work, to too much outside exposure. One was alcohol related.

Out of the sixteen treated in County hospitals health officials say only one person was admitted, while fifteen others were treated and released.
