MONROE COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) -  A Fenton man is dead after suffering an apparent heart attack while he tried to load his boat onto a trailer at Mark Twain Lake.

Fishermen arrived at the Rte. N boat ramp Thursday afternoon and found a pickup truck backed part way into the water with nobody around it.

A short time later, they found a boat about 300 yards downstream and police were called to the scene.

They recovered the body of 73-year-old Jerry Pigue of Fenton in the water not far from the boat.

Monroe County coroner James Reinhard says it appears Pigue was trying to load the boat onto the trailer following a day of fishing when the boat drifted away, and he went into the water to try and retrieve it.

Reinhard later ruled that the cause of death was not drowning, but a heart attack brought on by the stress of trying to corral the runaway boat.
