Man Charged For Allegedly Dragging Trooper

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — A St. Louis man is facing several charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 70 that injured a Missouri state trooper.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Carlos Perry was arrested for several traffic violations, resisting arrest, felony drug possession and assault on a law enforcement officer. He is jailed in St. Charles and does not yet have an attorney.

Patrol spokesman Al Nothum says Perry was stopped on I-70 in St. Charles. As a trooper reached into the suspect’s car to make an arrest, Perry allegedly drove off, briefly dragging the trooper before he fell to the pavement, causing minor injuries.

A chase ended a short time later near Lambert Airport. Nothum says Perry got out of his car and ran, but the trooper caught him.
