Shelby Miller Suspended Indefinitely

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Prized Cardinals prospect Shelby Miller, a starting pitcher currently with Springfield AA, has been suspended indefinitely.

General Manager John Mozeliak did not give specifics, but just said that Miller “violated team policy”. The only thing Mozeliak did elaborate on is that the action or behavior in question occurred at some point last week.

Reports, that have surfaced later in the day, are now indicating that the violation was alcohol-related. If there is any validity to the report, then it would be the second time Miller, 20, has gotten into this sort of trouble.

Miller, the 19th overall pick in the 2009 amateur draft, is 7-3 with a 2.97 ERA at Springfield after being promoted from Class A Palm Beach.
