SWANSEA, Ill. (KMOX) – A teenager walking home escaped from a would-be kidnapper Tuesday night.
The 17-year-old girl was walking along Route 159 near Bronze Point Blvd. when the man, in his 50s or 60s, forced her into his car at gunpoint.
They drove to the nearby MetroLink station and she managed to escape.
“She was trying to get out of the car and, eventually, he let her go. There was a bit of a struggle,” said deputy police chief Craig Coughlin.
The man did, however, steal several of her personal belongings, including her cell phone.
She still managed to call 911, by flagging down some people at the MetroLink station and borrowing one of their cell phones.
