ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Long spells of hot, dry weather have created drought-like condition in many parts of Missouri.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Jayson Gosselin tells KMOX News that the St. Louis area is in moderate drought conditions, three to five inches below normal rainfall.
“Unfortunately that last cold front did not bring any rain to east-central Missouri,” Gosselin says. “At least it did bring totals of three-quarters of an inch to an inch-and-a-half over central Missouri.
Northeast Missouri is experiencing severe drought, down six inches or more.
As KMOX News told you earlier this week, portions of Illinois are also suffering from moderate to severe drought.
