EAST ST. LOUIS (AP) A registered sex offender from Missouri has been ordered to
spend more than 19 years in federal prison on child-pornography counts for
inappropriate images found on his cell phone after he was caught shoplifting
girls’ underwear.

Thirty-two-year-old Daniel Scalf of St. Louis was
sentenced Friday in East St. Louis. He pleaded guilty in June to charges of
possessing and transporting child pornography.

After Scalf was arrested
in January at a Collinsville Walmart for stealing girls’ underwear,
investigators found at least two images of child pornography on his cell phone.

Authorities say Scalf has a long record of sex-related arrests dating to
1998, when he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a mentally disabled person.

A judge on Friday also ordered Scalf to spend the rest of his life on
post-prison supervision.
