Protestors Removed From Kiener Plaza, Some Arrested
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was a late-night showdown between the “Occupy STL” protesters who’ve been camping out at Kiener plaza and St. Louis police officers.
Actually, it was after midnight when dozens of police cruisers surrounded the park, with up to 75 officers forming a perimeter around the protest zone and forcing everyone to leave.
Those who resisted, estimated to be about a dozen, were arrested and sent off for booking.
The rest were told they couldn’t loiter on the sidewalk and would not be able to return until the park was officially open to the public again.
Many of those protesters did indeed vow to return and in greater numbers, armed with signs protesting what they see as corporate greed.
