HARTFORD, IL. (KMOX) - A Hartford, Illinois man is accused of severely injuring his nine week old child.

Police say that the mother took the infant to a hospital Monday night, because it was not acting normal.  It was determined the baby had suffered “non accidental head injuries.”

The Child Death Investigative Task Force was activated and determined that 24 year old Matthew Fields injured the child, while baby-sitting Monday while the mother was at work.

Fields is charged with aggravated battery of a child.

Investigators say the mother and father (Matthew Fields) live at the same address, but are not married.

Bond was set at $500,000

Fields lives on East Hawthorne in Hartford, Illinois.
