Construction, Marathon Impact Metro This Weekend

ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-If you rely on Metro to get around you may be facing some challenges this weekend.

The Eads Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Friday night, and the deck carrying Metrolink will be shut down all day Saturday and Sunday.

Metro Spokeswoman Dianne Williams says that means riders will not be able to take Metrolink across the river, “The only alternative we have is taking them by bus on one of the other bridges between Illinois and Missouri and then reconnecting them to Metrolink so they can travel further on to their destination.”

Williams says that will turn a one minute trip into a 20 or 30 minute journey.

On Sunday, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon will affect about 20 bus routes throughout the city, “If you’re trying to get to work or something and you weren’t planning on running a marathon, you need some more time because your bus might get blocked by the route.”
