City Hall Revokes Bondage Club License

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — A bondage club with cages dangling from the ceiling is no longer operating in south St. Louis.

The Clan of the Barbarians at 3130 South Gravois had been operating since August under a conditional use permit allowing it to hold “educational safety seminars.”   The city’s Board of Adjustment voted to overturn the permit after complaints from the neighborhood.

“Residents had concerns about property values, concerns about their ability to walk their dogs and children,” said Alderman Craig Schmid.

Schmid says there were also parking problems caused by events held at the club.  The club’s owner had been promoting the attraction as the first bondage club in Missouri.

The owner said he would re-open elsewhere.
