ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for leading police on a chase that killed a city officer.
24-year-old Sheldon Beckham was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded guilty in September to second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, stealing and resisting arrest by fleeing.
A 27-year-old officer, David Haynes, was pursuing Beckham in March 2010 when the chase ended in a four-car crash that killed the officer, a former Marine who had been with the department for just over a year.
