MADISON COUNTY, IL (KMOX) - A speeding car leads an Illinois State Trooper to make a major drug bust in the Metro East.
It happened Thursday morning along Eastbound Interstate 70, near Highland Illinois.
Trooper Mike Link tells KMOX, a state patrol officer stopped a Chevrolet Malibu for speeding, he then became suspicious and called in a K9. The police dog detected drugs in the vehicle.
Link says 72 pounds of Marijuana was found with an estimated street value of $359,000.
The suspect is 27-year old Thomas Arthur Debakker Jr. of Aptos California. Link says it is believed he was passing through the Metro East on his way to another destination.
Debakker is being held in Madison County on 200,000 dollars bond.
