Missouri Dems Look West For New Party Chair
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – There’s a new chair of the Missouri Democratic Party.
State committee members voted unanimously on Saturday to elect Mike Sanders of Independence.
He’s the county executive in Jackson County and a former county prosecutor.
Sanders takes over for Susan Montee as party chair.
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D) said in a written statement, “With Mike Sanders at the helm, the Missouri Democratic Party is strongly positioned to win races from the top of the ticket on down.”
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon (D) also issued a response, “Mike has shown himself to be a relentless candidate who knows how to win tough races. His record of accomplishment, both in public office and on the campaign trail, make him the clear choice to lead the Missouri Democratic Party in 2012.”
Missouri Democrats voted Saturday for St. Louis city comptroller Darlene Green to serve as Sanders’ vice-chair.
