ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  Authorities are investigating any possible connection after a pair of vacant homes both caught fire early Monday, both in North St. Louis.

Firefighters responded to a home on Wagner in the Hamilton Heights section of Wellston around 5 am.

The empty structure was already engulfed in flames when city firefighters rolled up on the scene, and they requested assistance from the North Central District as the fire spread quickly throughout the entire home.

Smoke from the fire caused some problems for drivers in the Skinker/Page area for a time, but firefighters slowly gained the upper hand.

Meanwhile, another vacant home in the 4200 block of Peck near Penrose was reported to be on fire a short time later.

Again, no injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators are looking for a cause in both early morning fires.
