GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) -  Madison County authorities investigating this week’s death of a 48-year-old man have made a pair of arrests.

28-year-old Cory Armbruster and 30-year-old Becky Chander, both of Granite City, face a felony count each of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

William J. Smith was found dead in his home in the 4200 block of Division St. in Granite City early Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Investigators determined that the previous evening, Cory Armbruster had told Fentanyl to Smith, and that Armbruster has purchased the Fentanyl from Becky Chandler.

Results of Smith’s autopsy were inconclusive pending toxicological tests, and the suspects may face more charges once investigators have those results.

Both Armbruster and Chandler are being held on $50,000 bond.
