EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - The Target Store in Edwardsville reopened to shoppers Friday afternoon, a few hours after it was closed due to a fire.

The balze was in a tractor-trailer that was backed up to the rear of the store, unloading supplies.

Flames spread to a stockroom at the rear of the store. The flames could be seen up over the roof, but Target employees say the actual shopping area never caught fire.

As of early afternoon, crews from several fire departments were busy clearing the smoky smell out of the business.

The Madison County Health Department has been called in to make the determination when the Target in Edwardsville can re-open.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
