Man Strikes Deputy’s Patrol Car, Twice

STAUNTON, IL. (KMOX) – A Staunton Illinois man is held on multiple counts after allegedly striking a sheriff deputy’s patrol car twice while trying to flee.

Owners of the Hill Tavern on Williamson Avenue in Staunton called police when 41 year old Stephen Bolin allegedly caused a disturbance inside the tavern.  When deputies arrived Bolin was already in his vehicle and said to be driving at a high rate of speed.

Madison County officials say he swerved into a deputy’s car and kept going.   Bolin’s vehicle was finally forced into a ditch, but when a patrol car pulled in front of him to try and prevent an escape, once again Bolin struck a squad car.

He was finally located at a home on East Pearl Street in Staunton.  His vehicle was found two blocks away.  Bond was set at $25,000.
