Investigators: Missing Iowa Woman Left On Her Own

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ia. (KMOX) Authorities now believe the missing Iowa woman whose car was found in Wright City last weekend left on her own, but they still don’t know where she is.

Washington County, Iowa Sheriff Jerry Dunbar tells KMOX that Sharon Hopf had apparently made plans to leave her home, “Two days before her disappearance she had actually wrote a check to herself from the business, for $1,000, and they have her in Washington cashing that check personally. ”

Dunbar says Hopf, who owns a furniture store with her husband, also erased her emails the night before she disappeared. Investigators are trying to recover them.

Hopf’s purse and cell phone were found in her car. Dunbar says there are no records of her using her credit cards since her disappearance.

Hopf has family in the St. Louis area and in Texas, but Dunbar says they have not seen her.
