BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX)- The Belleville campus of Southwestern Illinois College has been evacuated, due to a bomb threat, phoned in shortly before eight this morning.

In a statement from school public information officer Mike Flemming, “the Belleville Police called campus security to inform them they had received a phone call that quote, said there is a bomb at Belleville SWIC.”

The campus was cleared out as law enforcement units moved in to start a search for any device – none so far have been found.  Flemming told KMOX News, “the campus will be closed for the rest of the day, we expect classes to resume tomorrow.”

K-9 units from Scott Air Force Base were called in to assist in the sweep.  The two-year community college has some 13-thousand students.
