KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A lawsuit filed by a family seeking to transfer their teen daughter from the unaccredited St. Louis School District to the better-performing Webster Groves School District goes before the Missouri Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The lawsuit on behalf of Jordan Danielle King-Willmann is among at least four stemming from a Missouri law allowing students from unaccredited districts to transfer to accredited districts.
A St. Louis County judge ruled in June that that King-Willmann should be admitted into Webster Groves High School. The judge cited a Missouri Supreme Court ruling in a different case that students living in unaccredited districts are owed free transfers and that accredited schools must take the students.
The Webster Groves district has appealed and refused to admit King-Willmann while the litigation continues.
