ROLLA, MO.(AP)-Investigators in south-central Missouri are looking into the death of a new mother in a hospital waiting room.
An autopsy on 25-year-old Stephanie Maylee was scheduled Tuesday, one day after she was found dead in the hospitality and waiting area of Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.
KOLR-TV reports that Maylee had recently given birth and was discharged from the hospital on Sunday. Hospital CEO John Denbo told the station that Maylee returned to the hospital Sunday evening because her newborn son had not yet been released. Maylee, a resident of Rolla, slept in the waiting room Sunday night and was found dead around 10 a.m. Monday. Denbo said hospital employees did not recall anyone accompanying Maylee to or from the medical center.
