ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The U-S Geological Survey reports two earthquakes shook up parts of the metro east and southern Missouri last night.

The first quake – measuring 2.2 on the Richter Scale – hit at 6:52 PM and was centered about three miles north of O’Fallon, Illinois.

The second temblor struck about two hours later.  The magnitude 2.0 quake had an epicenter 5 miles east of Longtown, Missouri.

There’s no word of damage or injuries.

A stronger earthquake – measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale, struck a week ago today near East Prairie, Missouri. That quake resulted in some minor damage to buildings and could be felt in four states.
