ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – A 2-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck by a bullet Friday morning.
It happened at a home in the 400 block of Midlothian in north county.
“When our officers responded the father of the two year old had already transported the child to Christian Northeast hospital,” said St. Louis County police spokesman Rick Eckhard.
From there the boy, identified as Anthony Sanders, was air-lifted to St. Louis Children’s hospital where he’s now listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Eckhard says the victim’s mother, father and 3-year-old sibling were in the home at the time the boy was shot, but he had no further information on exactly what happened.
Police have recovered “some weapons” from the home as the investigation gets underway, according to Eckhard.
He said they believe the boy was shot inside the home and they’re currently talking with everyone related to the incident, so nearby residents should not be concerned that there is a gunman running loose in their neighborhood.
