“Hunger” Has A Box Office Feast
After you consider the record-setting opening of “The Hunger Games,” with $155 million in ticket sales for the first 72 hours, the rest of the box office news this weekend is anti-climatic. The balance of the field scored box office results that pale in comparison. “Hunger Games” just ate up most of the ticket sales at the movies this weekend.
There was a movie in 2nd place, however. It was “21 Jump Street” with $21.3 million, giving it a grand total of $71.1 million for two weeks in release.
“Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” came in 3rd with $13.1 million, running its 4 week total up to $177.3 million.
“John Carter” was 4th last weekend with $5.0 million, which continues its disappointing box office performance. “Act of Valor” was 5th with $2.1 million. For the balance of the box office results, click on the link below.
“Wrath of the Titans” is among the films opening next weekend. “Hunger” is projected to fight it out with “Titans” for the number one spot then.
