COLONY, Mo. (KMOX) – A 6-year-old autistic boy’s body was found in a pond, just seven months after his twin brother died the same way.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s dive team found Christian Baucom’s body Wednesday afternoon in a pond approximately 250 yards from his home in a Mennonite community.
A Highway Patrol spokesperson told KMOX that Christian’s brother, Jason, died Aug. 25 last year after his body was found in a different pond nearby.
Several law enforcement agencies and volunteers searched for Christian after he went missing Tuesday afternoon.
The Kansas City Star reports that the brothers were being cared for by a Mennonite family because their mother is in prison.
Authorities believe this latest incident was an accident.
“It’s a very tragic thing,” Colony Baptist Church pastor Rex Link told the Star.
KMOX has reached out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol for comment.
