Which St. Louis Metro Area Drinks the Most Alcohol?

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Where can you find the biggest drinkers in the St. Louis area?

They’re in Madison County, Illinois – at least according to numbers supplied online by countyhealthrankings.org

Madison County reports 25-percent of adults — one out of every 4 — reported either binge drinking — which is having 4 drinks for a woman or 5 for a man on a single occasion in the past thirty days — or heavy drinking — which is one drink a day for women or two drinks a day for men.

St. Charles County wasn’t far behind at 24 percent. Then St. Louis City at 21-percent. Jefferson and St. Louis counties reported an excessive drinking rate of 19-percent. While Franklin County in Missouri and St. Clair County in Illinois had the lowest percentage in the metro area of excessive drinkers — at 16 percent.
