Police Impersonators Rob Ferguson Family
FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX/AP) — Ferguson police are looking for three men who kicked down the door of an apartment Monday morning claiming to be police officers.
Authorities say the police impersonators got away with two televisions, a purse and car keys.
A woman in her 20s, her boyfriend and her two young children were in the apartment during the robbery.
It happened around 6:30 Monday morning in the 9500 block of Glen Oaks Drive.
The woman told police that three black men wearing bulletproof vests and police badges yelled “Police!” and said they had search warrants. The men were also wearing bandanas over their faces.
Armed with shotguns, the men ordered the frightened residents to lie face down on the floor. No one was hurt.
Ferguson Police Captain Rick Henke says the men were not dressed like police and that “at least one” was wearing a bulletproof vest and a fake badge. Police believe the apartment may have been targeted rather than chosen at random.
Anyone with information is asked to call Ferguson Police at 314-522-3100 extension 0.
