ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Billikens basketball fans can breathe a little easier, today, one day after learning Southern Methodist University was given permission to speak with St. Louis University head coach Rick Majerus about the coaching vacancy at that school.

CBS Sports.com college basketball insider Jeff Goodman reports his sources tell him Majerus has decided to tell SMU, “thanks, but no thanks.”

Majerus took the Billikens to the third round of the NCAA tournament last month, while SMU ended up firing coach Matt Doherty.

The Mustangs are set to begin play in the Big East Conference next season.
