Man Who Jumped From I-55 Overpass Was 82, From St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  A man who jumped from the Lafayette overpass onto Interstate 55 near downtown during Tuesday’s morning rush has been identified.

Police say Reuben Johnson was 82-years-old and lived in the 2600 block of Hickory.

Johnson jumped from the overpass around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, landing in a traffic lane of I-55.

He was not struck by any vehicles after falling about 25 feet onto the pavement, suffering serious head and other injuries.

Johnson was conscious when rescuers reached him but later died at a local hospital.
