Mehlville District Principal Pleads Not Guilty to “Lewd” in Forest Park

ST. LOUIS–(KMOX)– A grade school principal from the Mehlville School District pleads not guilty to charges of “lewd and indecent behavior” in Forest Park.

Point Elementary school principal James Walters is scheduled to stand trial on July 26.

Walters, 49, has been on paid leave from his post.  A district spokesperson says he remains employed “as of now.”

A citation issued by a Park Ranger on March 16 claimed, “I observed subject Waters grab his genitals while talking to a person in his vehicle who later confessed to what was happening.”  The alleged incident took place around three o’clock on a Friday afternoon along Stream Valley Court, not far from of the Muny Opera.

Walters is represented by attorney Neil Bruntrager. “He adamantly denies any guilt or wrongdoing of any sort,” Bruntrager said.

Bruntrager says the charge of “lewd and indecent behavior” goes beyond the Park Ranger’s complaint.

“We’ll fight this to its fullest,” Bruntrager said.
