ST LOUIS , MO (KMOX) — In 2011 Missouri saw a slight decrease in the number of  motorcycle accidents. In the first 9 months there were 68 total deaths recorded eight less than 2010.

In Missouri Law use to require all riders to wear a state approved helmet but was recently revised giving exception to riders 21 and over.

Riders over in Illinois however have had their way for the most part as the state has no mandatory helmet laws. It is does not come as a surprise then when recent reports show that there has been a 12% increase in motorcycle fatalities in the state.

The highways have been less forgiving to the riders across the river .The state saw the death toll go to 126 in the nine month period.16 more lives than the year prior.

Another possibility could be better weather leading to more people out riding ultimately resulting in more accidents.
