Judge Rules Against Red Light Cameras in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS–(KMOX)–A St. Louis Circuit Court judge rules against the city’s red light camera system, finding it violates a ticketed driver’s right to due process.

Attorney Bevis Shock represented State Senator Jim Lembke, who got a red light camera ticket and fought it.

“The notice that gets sent out doesn’t have a court date on it,” Schock said, “So, there’s no way the defendant, the person receiving the notice, understands that there’s a right to a hearing.”

The case follows a similar ruling against the city’s red light cameras in February.  The city is fighting that original court ruling before the Missouri Court of Appeals.
