BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP)- Three veterans in southwestern Illinois say this time of year has special meaning.
Perry Wilson of Belleville, Paul Seibert of O’Fallon and Howard Brown of Chicago all joined the U.S. Army in the 1940s and served together in World War II. They all also turned 90 this year.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports the men celebrated Memorial Day and their birthdays with about 50 family members Saturday at a restaurant in Belleville.
Wilson and Seibert grew up together in East St. Louis. They later met Brown in the Army.
And if that wasn’t enough of a bond, Brown’s sister has also been married to Wilson for nearly 70 years.
