UPDATE: O’Fallon Men Face Murder Charges After Stabbing Victim Dies

O’FALLON, Mo. (KMOX) — The man who was brutally attacked in an alleged attempted robbery last week has died.

Avery Cornuelle, 18, of O’Fallon, Mo. and Peyton McAnelly, 20, of O’Fallon, Mo. are accused of stabbing 54 year-old Joseph Givens several times in the head, neck, and chest last week. According to police Givens met up with the two men after responding to a Craigslist ad concerning alternative lifestyles.

The assault happened in the 800 block of Blackberry lane.

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has upgraded their charges. Both suspects McAnelly and Cornuelle are now charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, Attempted Robbery 1st, and an additional charge of Armed Criminal Action.
