CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - A semi hauling cattle to market overturned early Monday, resulting in dozens of cows falling onto I-64 and major traffic headaches for Metro East commuters.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. as a livestock truck flipped over in the westbound lanes of 64 near the I-255 interchange.
State police say three animals had to be shot after making their way onto traffic lanes of I-255.

The driver of the cattle truck had minor injuries, as did a person driving a passenger vehicle that was also involved in the crash.
It took several hours for crews to round up about five dozen cattle and tow the overturned truck from the scene.
