End Could Come Soon For Clayton’s World Trade Center

CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) –  The decision may soon come down to demolish the World Trade Center building at 121 Meramec Ave. in Clayton.

That land would then be converted into a staging ground for construction of the new family courts building next door.

Besides, according to county chief operating officer Garry Earls, the Trade Center is a “failed building”.

“If you go and look in the basement of it there’s nothing but shoring that’s holding the building up,” Earls explains to KMOX News. “So the truth is the shoring keeps it standing for today, but we are certainly not in a great place with that.”

Earls explains that the county would seek to buy or lease some 70,000 sq. ft. of office space in Clayton, then sell the Trade Center site to a private developer.
