ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- Southwest Airlines is adding non-stop service between St. Louis and Washington Reagan National Airport this fall.

The two, daily round-trips are a result of high demand that’s not being met by American’s current service to D.C.A.

Lambert spokesman Jeff Lea says, “There’s a lot of business traffic between the two markets. Certainly a lot of our legislators use that destination.”

Lea says analysis of passenger data helped convince Southwest to make the deal.

“We certainly had evidence that there was a strong demand for the Washington Reagan National Airport and the traffic going there, and Southwest saw that as well,” Lea says.

The service is expected to start around October.
