It’s Not the First Time 3949 Lindell Burned

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Firefighters are familiar with 3949 Lindell.  When the apartment building was under construction in 2007, it was destroyed by fire.

Investigators ruled it suspicious. It was part of a string of fires on sites still under development.

This time around, fire chief Dennis Jenkerson says they don’t have a cause, but they know why it was so dramatic.

“This is light weight construction. It doesn’t hold up like some of the older buildings , that’s why it burns so quick. Light weight construction burns so fast.” said Chief Jenkerson.

Jenkerson also tells KMOX that the building did not have fire walls between units and had a common roof. The attic, where the flames spread the length of the building, did not have any sprinklers.
