Officer Involved Shooting Reported In South St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — A suspect is shot by St. Louis Police this afternoon. It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Osage.

Police say a SUV ran a stop sign at Osage and Oregon in south city, when police attempted to pull the vehicle over the driver refused to stop. The officer did not pursue with lights and sirens, but located the SUV in that same area and saw the suspect running down an alley.

After a brief foot chase between two houses the suspect, who was carrying a semi automatic handgun, pointed the weapon at the officer. At least one witness confirms that they heard the officer yelling several times for the suspect to drop his weapon.

The suspect in his 30’s received gunshot wounds to the shoulder, leg, and buttocks. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

The officer is a 30 year old four-year veteran. As standard procedural he is on paid administrative leave.
